It's also remotely possible for humans to catch the virus - but anyone who has been immunized against measles is also protected against distemper. If your dog becomes infected or dies from distemper,
you should wait at least a month before bringing any new pets into
your home. Although the virus that causes distemper doesn't last
very long outside an animal's body, you may wish to disinfect anything
