Chinchilla Cages
Chinchilla Cages A chinchilla cage should be spacious, at least 24x24 inches. Chinchillas like to climb so choose a tall cage with shelves and ladders so your chinchilla will get sufficient excercise. You might also want to put a wheel in the cage, but keep in mind that if you don't introduce your chinchilla to a wheel at a young age he may not use it. The cage should be chew-proof, so don't get one that is made from plastic. Wire is the way to go. The cage should be placed in a less stressful area in your home. Keep it out of bright sunlight and drafty areas and out of reach of children and pets. Food and water containers are ofcourse a must. Containers that are made from glass is your best choice since they are impossible for your chinchilla to chew through. For food it is best to get a feeder that is mounted on the outside of the cage. This will prevent your chinchilla from relieving himself in his food. When it comes to bedding don't use cedar shavings. Use only materials that do not contain irritating oils and preservatives Checklist: - Regular Toys and toys for tooth grooming.
