First Aid : Choking
14. Choking:
Choking is
recognized by your dog pawing at his mouth, gagging, drooling, coughing,
or collapse.
Quickly look
into his mouth to see if a foreign object in his throat is visible. If
possible, grasp with tweezers or pliers and remove.
If the object remains stuck in his throat, try a sharp blow on back of
neck or between his shoulders.
If needed,
attempt a Heimlich Maneuver by placing your hands on either side of the
dog's rib cage and apply firm, quick pressure. Repeat 2 - 3 times.
Seek emergency
vet care if this fails.
