In a wireless pet containment system, the transmitter creates a circular field. If your dog travels outside the boundary of that field, he receives electric stimulation. Again, by repetition and training, he learns to stay inside the field.

A wireless system is easier to install. But it doesn't adapt to the shape of your yard. You may also wind up restricting your dog's movement to only a portion of your yard. A wireless system is most effective for a home that's centered on your property. But since most people's homes are not so perfectly symmetrical, a wired system is probably best.

The system is portable, so you can take it and your pet wherever you go. Wireless is great for vacationing with your dog!

A wireless transmitter creates a circular containment zone (field) and the radius is adjustable to fit your property. You can buy additional transmitters to enlarge the containment area that create overlapping zones and the dog can pass from one zone to another without receiving a correction.

How it Works:
Just plug in the transmitter some where inconspicuously in your home, garage, or tool shed. The transmitter will then emit a radio signal which will define the containment boundary for your pet. Your pet wears a lightweight receiver collar which "listens" for the signal. While the collar is receiving the signal, your dog is free to run and play in your yard. When your pet approaches the boundary of the signal area your pet will receive a warning beep. If your dog does not retreat from the boundary a correction is given. With a little simple training, your dog will quickly learn his boundaries.

Setting up a wireless containment system only takes a few minutes and is very easy. The transmitter plugs into any standard 110 volt outlet. Since the signal will transmit reliably through walls and other obstructions, it can be placed in any convenient and discreet location, typically in the garage, tool shed, or a closet. Once you have set up the area you can now adjust the range that is appropriate for your dog and your yard.

(If you have a large or stubborn dog, this system is not likely to work for you; therefore a buried wired system might work better.)

1. Place the transmitter in an indoor area near a standard electrical outlet. (May be mounted on a wall.)
2. Plug the transmitter into a standard household outlet.
3. Activate the collar receiver.
4. Adjust the radius of the "safe zone" on the transmitter.
5. Walk the perimeter of the safe zone with the collar in your hand to determine the actually boundary.
6. Once you have adjusted the signal to the perimeter you want, mark the boundary by placing the training flags at the edge of the signal.
